Artwork title : Ah Mah

This artwork portrays my grandmother, whom I call “Ah Mah” - Hokkien for Grandmother - in a family photo from the late 70s. 

I drew my Ah Mah as she is my favouriteperson in the world, and as Mother’s Day was approaching, I decided to give the artwork to her as a gift. I used the block-in method to  help with the proportions. Firstly, l drew a vertical and horizontal axis line on both the reference and my drawing paper, as a guideline. Then, after sketching the basic structure of the face, I erased the axis lines and started sketching the details. After I finished the sketch, I started colouring with my colour pencils.
