Artwork title : Culture Shock

This illustration depicts a girl who time-traveled into the future. At first, the girl was dazzled by the technological advancements. But her amazement soon turned into dismay as she realised the sky was barely visible with no stars, polluted by the bright lights of the city. Taxis were replaced with AI transport. I first thought of the concept in 2019, when I read a science magazine that, described in detail the pollution caused by usage of artificial light, obscuring the stars in the night sky, leaving it bare and dark. To kickstart the week-long project, I first modelled as the girl for reference. Then, I drew the sketch, before finishing off with my felt markers and colour pencils.
